At the Helmholtz Institute Freiberg for Resource Technology (HIF), innovative technologies for the circular economy are developed to provide and use mineral and metal-bearing raw materials more efficiently and to recycle them in an environmentally friendly way.

The Department of Analytics is looking for a PhD Student (f/m/d) Li, Sn, and W transport and enrichment in Variscan mineral systems.

Your tasks

• Investigation of the structural setting of known magmatic / magmatic-hydrothermal Li, Sn and W deposits in the Variscan Orogen
• Identification of structural controls on ore-forming processes
• Study of petrological constraints on alteration and mineralization processes
• Modelling of metal transport by hydrothermal fluids and fluid-rock interaction
• Analysis, interpretation, and documentation of results
• Development and test of vectoring tools towards ore bodies
• Publication and presentation of research findings in scientific journals and at project meetings, workshops, and conferences
  
  

Your profile

• Completed university studies (Master/Diploma) in the field of Geology, Structural Geology, Economic Geology, Geochemistry, Mineralogy or related field
• Relevant experience in magmatic- and magmatic-hydrothermal mineral systems and in field-based geological studies
• In-depth knowledge of structural geology
• Knowledge of modelling techniques for fluid-rock interaction and magmatic processes will be an advantage
• Excellent team-working skills
• Ability to work in a structured and solution-oriented manner
• Ability to work in the field
• Driving license will be an advantage
• Excellent English language skills are required
• German, French or Czech language skills will be an advantage
