We are looking for a strategic, result-focused, entrepreneurial Sales Manager who will lead and realise our growth ambition in the German-speaking market of Power Grids and support the Energy Transition.
Introduction
The Power Grids business area supports utilities, system operators, industrial asset owners, renewable developers, investors, regulators and technology providers in addressing some of the most critical challenges facing the energy sector today. From grid expansion and modernization to digitalization, congestion management, flexibility markets and system operations, we help our customers build reliable, resilient and future-ready power networks. With a strong presence across Northern Europe, DNV combines deep technical expertise with strategic advisory services to accelerate the energy transition. Germany represents one of our most important growth markets, and we are now looking for a commercially driven leader to further strengthen our position.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and highly connected Business Development Director to lead our growth strategy in the German-speaking Power Grids market, with a primary focus on Germany.
This is not a traditional sales role.
You will act as a market strategist, industry ambassador, trusted advisor and commercial leader, identifying future opportunities and translating market developments into sustainable business growth. You will play a pivotal role in defining our market approach while building long-term relationships with senior executives, system operators, utilities, industrial customers and key decision-makers involved in Germany's energy transition.
As a recognized expert within your field, you will help position DNV as the partner of choice for grid modernization, digital system operations, congestion management, grid optimization and transformation initiatives.
Lead Market Growth
Preferred location is Dresden, Germany. Other locations in Germany, such as Hamburg and Bonn, are negotiable.

Lead Market Growth
- Define and execute the commercial growth strategy for Power Grids services in Germany and the wider DACH region
- Identify emerging market trends, customer challenges and new business opportunities
- Develop strategic growth plans aligned with DNV's long-term ambitions
- Drive sustainable and profitable order intake growth
- Establish and strengthen relationships with C-level executives, decision-makers and industry stakeholders
- Engage with Transmission System Operators (TSOs), Distribution System Operators (DSOs), utilities, regulators, industrial customers and investors
- Act as a trusted advisor to customers navigating complex energy transition challenges
- Own and develop a strong sales pipeline across the Power Grids portfolio
- Lead qualification, capture and pursuit of strategic opportunities
- Make bid/no-bid decisions and guide multidisciplinary proposal teams
- Negotiate and close high-value consulting and advisory engagements
- Sponsor strategic projects after contract award to ensure customer success
- Represent DNV at industry events, conferences and customer forums
- Deliver keynote presentations and contribute to industry discussions
- Publish articles, market insights and thought leadership content
- Strengthen DNV's visibility and reputation in the German market
- Work closely with our technical experts, consultants and engineering teams across Europe
- Translate customer needs into innovative service offerings
- Help shape the evolution of our Grid Utilization, Grid Transformation and Digital
- Support resource prioritization and annual business planning activities
- Coach consultants and subject matter experts in commercial excellence
- Contribute to a high-performance and collaborative culture
- Help develop future business opportunities across the organization

About You
What We're Looking For
Commercial Leadership
- Proven success in business development, market development, strategic sales or consulting leadership roles
- Strong track record of winning and delivering significant consulting, engineering or advisory opportunities
- Ability to build and execute growth strategies in complex technical markets
- Experience managing large opportunity pipelines and strategic pursuits
- Deep understanding of the German electricity transmission and distribution market
- Strong knowledge of grid operations, flexibility, congestion management, grid transformation or system integration
- Well-established network within German utilities, TSOs, DSOs, regulators and energy sector stakeholders
- Understanding of challenges and opportunities related to the Energiewende and power system transformation
- Ability to translate market developments into clear business strategies
- Strong analytical and commercial skills
- Experience operating effectively in dynamic and evolving markets
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for growth and innovation
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing capabilities
- Ability to engage credibly with senior executives and technical experts alike
- Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing professionals
- Collaborative leadership style with a focus on long-term value creation
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
- Fluent German and English language skills
