EHS Engineer (m/f/d)
At ESMC, we are building one of Europe’s most advanced semiconductor manufacturing facilities. As an ESH Engineer, you will help establish and continuously improve our Environmental, Safety & Health management system while ensuring compliance with German and European regulations.
In this role, you will do more than interpret legislation - you will translate legal requirements into practical solutions that enable safe day-to-day operations across our manufacturing environment. Working closely with managers, technical teams and external authorities, you will help build a strong safety culture from the very beginning.

Job Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and continuously improve the site’s Environmental, Safety & Health (ESH) management system in alignment with corporate standards.
- Monitor new and changing German and European ESH legislation and ensure legal compliance across the site.
- Translate legal requirements into practical processes and support departments in implementing compliant solutions.
- Advise managers and employees on environmental, occupational safety and health topics.
- Perform environmental and occupational safety officer responsibilities within your area of expertise.
- Conduct workplace inspections, audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
- Provide expert guidance to operational departments by translating legal and regulatory requirements into practical ESH standards and procedures.
- Collaborate with authorities, external partners and internal stakeholders on compliance and sustainability initiatives.
- Support ESG initiatives and continuously improve ESH performance across the site.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Occupational Safety, Environmental Management, Industrial Hygiene, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in Environmental, Health & Safety.
- You have already worked as an Environmental, Occupational Safety or other legally appointed ESH Officer and are familiar with taking responsibility for regulatory compliance.
- Practical experience with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 management systems.
- Strong knowledge of German environmental and occupational health & safety legislation, including regulations such as: BImSchG, ArbSchG, BetrSichV, GefStoffV.
- Experience in semiconductor manufacturing or another highly regulated production environment is highly desirable.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and the ability to assess operational risks in day-to-day production.
- Strong communication and consulting skills with the ability to explain legal requirements in a practical and understandable way.
- Structured, analytical and solution-oriented working style.
- Fluent German and English.
- Build Environmental, Safety & Health processes in one of Europe’s largest semiconductor greenfield projects.
- Take ownership in a role with visible impact on employee safety and environmental compliance.
- Work in an international environment with close collaboration across global teams.
