Working to protect the privacy of more than 500 million Vodafone customers and employees, Global Privacy, Responsible AI & Data Regulations Team, a function under Group Legal & Business Integrity, oversees Vodafone’s global Privacy, Responsible AI & Data Regulations Programme and ensures its implementation within Vodafone Group. Joining the Global Privacy, Responsible AI & Data Regulations Team as a Manager, you can be part of our award winning, empowering privacy, responsible AI & data regulations function, working on cutting edge global matters.

Be part of a global privacy, responsible AI & data regulations team which provides world class by design advisory and compliance support to a wide range of internal stakeholders. You will join our Global Privacy, Responsible AI & Data Regulations Team primarily looking after the commercial, HR and finance side of the business, with the following key accountabilities:

What You Will Do

  • Global Business Partner primarily for the commercial, HR and finance side of the business to help shape and steer the strategy to ensure privacy, responsible AI and other data regulation’s requirements are at the heart of it
  • Supporting our Privacy andresponsible AI by Design and Assurance activities across a range of global data processing activities, including management of privacy impact assessments, AI risk assessments and supporting demand management through our privacy management tool OneTrust
  • Liaising with local market contacts on global privacy and AI risk assessments to ensure any local requirements are accommodated for.
  • Collaboration with Group Cyber Security on global AI risk assessments to ensure relevant responsible AI requirements are built in from the start
  • Advising on global privacy and responsible AI issues including commercial marketing, adtech, cookie management, consumer IoT, big data, responsible AI, TV, mobile and fixed connectivity services and value added services and the entire range of HR and finance processes
  • Fostering a privacy and responsible AI culture through regular engagements with relevant business stakeholders, providing training and awareness
  • Supporting regular Policy Compliance Reviews that verify compliance with global policies including Vodafone’s global Privacy Risk Control framework, i.e. with regards to privacy notices, and other similar second line assurance activities
  • Supporting Supplier Compliance processes, in particular ensuring privacy and responsible AI considerations are incorporated to supplier management in particular for key commercial, HR and finance processes, products and services
  • Supporting the negotiation and execution of external and internal data protection terms including complex agreements with commercial, HR and finance partners and suppliers, as well as with Vodafone Group internal data processing agreements
  • Developing and embedding privacy consent and notices, templates, advice, guidance and processes with the objective of making the negotiation of data protection terms more efficient and effective. This includes leveraging internal policy and procedure to ensure that all available tools are used


You will be expected to act as a privacy, responsible AI and data regulations subject matter expert with a focus on commercial, HR and finance processes, products and services and own and manage your portion work. You will liaise with a number of internal stakeholders including commercial, HR and finance product managers, big data scientists, external affairs teams, marketing and brand teams, adtech and brand experts, supply chain management, cyber security and local market privacy contacts. You will be expected to soundly perform fact gathering, analysis of privacy and responsible AI issues and driving privacy and responsible AI compliance controls on a day-to-day basis, as well as to produce, validate and distribute regular reports, key messages.

What Sets You Apart

  • 2-3+ years’ experience in privacy, ideally gained in the telecommunications sector or in another relevant business area
  • Expert understanding of relevant legislation including the GDPR, ePrivacy directive and related jurisprudence
  • Experience in negotiating contracts and privacy consent and notices
  • Good understanding of global privacy landscape relevant to commercial, HR and finance products, services and processes.;
  • Knowledge of compliance management standards, tools, methodologies and best practices;
  • Excellent organisation skills, able to handle multiple requests with differing priorities and stakeholders;
  • Excellent command of English, and excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication and public speaking skills;
  • Comfortable working in a matrix organisation with tolerance for ambiguity. Persistence to drive change over time;
  • Courage to ‘stand up and be counted’ even when view is unpopular at a more senior level;
  • Results oriented, proactive, responsible, pragmatic and ethical person with a passion for privacy, responsible AI & data regulations and interest in technologies and their societal impact;
  • Ability to analyse complex information and identify key and relevant points, including communicating in a relevant and easy to understand manner with different audiences
  • Experience of OneTrust would be highly advantageous
  • Privacy accreditation such as the CIPP/E preferred


This position can be full-time or part-time (at least 30 hours).
