Job Description Summary
Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.
Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.
The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).
Job Description
The Central Europe Grid System Integration (GSI) team delivers a wide range of high voltage transmission projects, including the connection of new generation & grid stability projects, and is looking for a Power Systems Engineer to lead the conceptual design of substations, the definition of main electrical equipment parameters and lead specific electrical studies.
These Projects Typically Include
You will conduct electrical components integration and interfaces. All activities that span multiple electrical components are concerned with how to integrate for maximum performance and operability.
You will develop solutions, undertake or lead a range of studies to develop an optimized substation design consulting.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the power transmission business and the way in which electrical power grids are operated in order to successfully transmit power while remaining stable. You will also have a working knowledge of related standards and documents, such as German Grid Code, in order to understand the design constraints that need to be adhered too.
You will be confident to discuss these complex topics with Customers and Consultants and be able to propose solutions or improvements needed to create successful concepts that can then be delivered. Furthermore, you will also be able to bridge the gap between the system studies and practical design realization and be able to provide guidance to the electrical-mechanical teams who will create the detail design.
You will be a team player, with good communication and interpersonal skills, be capable of self-management, and have a high degree of flexibility, resilience and a self-learning attitude.
